The speedo wire is so when you put your turn signals on on the freeway, change lanes they cancel after X number of feet. Since you won't be turning at all, just leaning a little. Also keeps the old codgers from driving 35 miles with their blinkers on.:coollep:Silicon Sam Thanks; all this info I'm getting is being stored. When I read about the speedo being wire to the cancel unit I was really confused just for the reason I can turn on the turn signal at a stop and without moving forward cancel them by turning the bars or a slight tip of the bike. Don't know if they should work like that being stopped but they do. :?

From what I understand, there are 3 things that cancel the turn signals. Distance, turning the bars, or leaning the bike over. That's what I recall anyway.
:waving:The rear suspensionwarning light is in the tach. The is no speed sensor in the speedometer for the rear suspension as the warning light is activated by a pressure switch. Since the rear suspension on the '83 Standard and Interstate can be run 0-57 PSI there was no need for the warning light so it was changed to an OD (overdrive) light which is on when in 5th gear.I believe there are two speed sensors in the speedo on an '82, one for the turn signal cancel and the other for the rear air suspension. I recall mention of the turn signal cancel control box being under the false tank.
Yeah, and it's purple too!He didn't convert it, 83s came that way.
