So, I'm looing at a 78 non running that has 82 carbs on it. They need rebuilding. So my question is, should I find a set of 78 carbs or rebuild the 82s? I know Randaak is not a fn of 1100 carbs on 1000s but what is the drawbacks if any

Probably nothing wrong with using the 1100 carbs depending on what condition they are in. I am sure any performance difference would be slight.

Plenty of owners here have done just that. Top end performance is know to suffer, but idle and take-off is improved slightly.
