do i have to put in thiner oil i am running 20-50 starter trys to engage but dose not engage.will heaver oil cause this.starter has been rebuilt.do not have any problems till weather starts getting cold:?:?:?

Well, thick oil will cause problems for the starter..I'd go to 10/40 once temps get below 60.

al hit the search box with [sprag clutch] or [starter clutch]. Might shed some light on the problem and an idea or two for a remedy :waving:Keno

This time of year I would say that the thick oil is your most likely culprit. Go with 10/40 and it should clearup te problem.

:waving:Yes, using 20W-50 is a major cause of this problem especially in cold weather and changing to a lighter oil such as 10W-40 usually cures this problem.
