Got some cracked broken spark plug caps that need changed on my 82 gl1100. I have some NGK 5k caps coming and am trying to determine which way to go. As I understand, to keep the resistance the same as OEM, I either need to add the 5k caps and change the plugs to non-resistance type or keep the plugs and remove the resistor in the cap and replace it wire a brass "rod" of the same diameter.

I'll probably go the second route to keep it as close to stock as possible.

Anyone running the 5k caps with resistance plugs and having no issues....on an 82/83 gl1100?

Resistance is resistance. Just run the caps as=is and run non-resistor plugs. Doesn't matter which have the resistance. When the voltage jumps the plug gap, the resulting spark won't know the difference.
