I just bought a 1982 GL1100. Gorgeous bike, new Pearl white paint, new tires, anyhow, Owner said speedo cable was broke, okay, but when I rode it home, the odometer was turning. Needle never moved. Will lube get it going? Is it f-ed? I am mechanically inclined, so no problem taking it apart, just want some advice so I don't waste my time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I doubt lubrication will fix it but if you can get it apart you might find the problem.
Several parting out 1100s in the for sale/wanted forum if you need to replace the speedo head.

Try replacing the speedometer cable first. I went though that last year.

Edit : Nevermind. I misread and thought the tach was moving but the speedo was not.
