These are the pieces that mount to the sides of the radiator to direct air flow to it. Are these pieces standard? The mounting bolts are there on my wing but it did not come with them. I do not have over heating problems but was thinking about buying a set. Did they come standard or were they an option? If I don't have over heating issues would it make sense to get a set? How much cooling difference do they make? Thanks in advance. JR

Those are scoops were OEM for the Standard model. You don't need them on a fiared model that has fairing lowers.

Also a friend of mine has an 83 that he stripped. No fairing lowers and no air scoops, and he has no problems at all with over heating.

My opinion; they are completely unnecessary and if anything just add drag.

They did make a difference in warm weather on my naked '80 Standard. Jluvs2dive's '84 standard had them as well as a chin piece below the radiator.

Thanks guys. I guess they are just another piece of shiny that caught my eye. And apparently I haven't been cured of my "Chrome's Disease". Anybody know a good doctor for that? JR
