281 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  MarkV
Hello,
Today's question is, I have a few gaskets I'm not sure if I need to add a gasket sealant. one being the head gaskets , they are an asbestos type material ( NOT metal) , Not sure if I need to use copper sealant or leave it alone with no sealant, another is the the final drive gear cover gasket ( part number 11372-463-306 ) goes on the left side rear of engine, and a few others..
Thank You

Don't use any sealant on the head gasket, just make sure the mating surfaces are clean. As for the final drive.... some people say that nothing is needed. I on the other hand feel that a thin coating of silicone sealant doesn't hurt.
i don`t use any sealer on my gaskets . heads or other ones. just be suer the mating surfaces are smooth and clean , clean , clean .
Thx guy's , No sealant,
I got it clean , clean , clean with a round wire brush on my elec drill,
worked great, at lower speeds,
