Hello, All
They have vamped this site ,a bit hard to work with now.. Sorry but it was much easier to maneuver through before the chance..Anyway ..
I am looking for a front break master cylinder in good shape, Mine works , but its in not so good shape and it wont be long before it's toast.
Also Hoping to find a fairing off the 83' Aspencade.

Do you have the split braking system, or separate front & back brakes?

The title says 83 Aspencade..... They have linked brake system so his frt master will be for left frt rotor only.

The same master cylinder will work for either. How many have changed the linked brakes to a split system with no problems?
And if your is still working it is rebuildable.

Yes, this is true. Without a doubt!!

But Dave, I really cant believe that you would say that there is only one size master cylinder for all! You of all people? Don't for gods sake for the first time in your life lead a poor questioning Mofo' astray, there's the 12mm for the split brake and the 14mm for the seperate brake system and no-one quite knows when in '83 they decided to change it.

I know for sure that I have true and real testimony to that, it took a long time and real $$$$ to figure it out.

My whole deal in this thread is, that I probably have an '83 split brake front master cylinder to offer this guy, 'cause I bought enough of them from people on there (ebay) and due their spiel, I bought $#!T I just can't use. But I finally got it right and realized that they really will lie to you!! Or just, over simplify things because they don't know either.

Can't help you with an '80-'82 separate master cylinder system, because i've got the best stuff available on that ol' bike to the left, and I ain't parting with any of it!

Hey just putting this out there too. while I'm at it, are you sure it's a master cylinder your'e after, and not just, "within specs" rotors, now I really can, help you out with those!!

Didn't say there is only 1 size MC, just that either will work. One could even use one off a 1200 or 1500 or even an 1800 or just about anything with 7/8 bars. All 83s have the linked system BTW.

My break system is the linked, the Front MC goes to one front rotor only and the break peddle operates the rear break and other front rotor,
I just need the front MC ,
Funny TCampbell and Chilidawg, I was just in Victorville yesterday ( Picked up an engine from that guy). He was a bit odd in that I had asked about other stuff he had but he didn't want to show me anything for some reason, He loaded the new engine closed the garage door as fast as he could. Figured I may not have smelled to good , Was a 12 hour drive after all hehe
Wish I had of known about that fairing..
Anyway the search goes on.

Exactly my point. If Dave is correct, and he always is, you have a maximum 25% chance of this MC working for you.

That's why me & ebay have such a love/hate relationship.

I'm gonna look around and see what I've got, I'll get back if I've got something that'll work for you.

Well I looked and it ain't good news, I found 2 or 3 of 'em but what I've got is is most likely in worse shape than yours is but if you want to try and make a good one out of it, you can have it all for the cost of shipping.
You never did say what was wrong with yours, if it's not leaking and your problem is the lever coming too far back towards the bar then you may be looking at the wrong end of the brake, thin rotors do that, like I said before, that, I can help you out with, put a caliper on it, less than 9.00mm on a vented rotor is the limit and the nearer you are to 10.00mm the better off you are.
If it's just the look of the thing that's bothering you then I found these today on fleabay.

Ya, It's leaking, messed up the new paint job on my gas tank shell, plus the white reservoir plastic is turning to dust ( flaking away from being old) , A rebuild would more then likely take care of the leak, but the reservoir is in bad shape ..

It has been so long ago that I have fortgotten the name of the company, but Brokewinger would, he bought one....But they were selling "new" front master cylinders, even came two brass washers, lever, and brake light switch....Broke has an 1100 think an 82 model???..But they are solid cast iron, no plastic reservior...I'll see if I can find them, if not maybe Broke will know, I'll PM Broke...

I bought one of those universal sets and if you notice it's not angled so as to be level when on the bars of a wing, if I remember rightly I couldn't actualy fill it all the way due to that. And it too was not designed for a double disc so I never used it, and then when I went to grab it the other day while looking for MC's for you, my finger touched the sight glass and crushed it completely in, just saying!

OUCH !! Not good ....
Thx for the heads UP ...
On a side note , Mine is not a double disk front break system.
Yes it has two rotors in front, the rear break operates the rear and one of the front disk..
