83 Aspencade Piston rings

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to tell if I need the standard rings or the over sized, they go from 0.25 to 1.00 in the over sized, but how do you check..
Only thing I have found is order the rings and then check the gap, of course if I have the wrong rings, I have to send back, then re-order and so forth ..
trying to avoid that..
Thank you !

Most likely standard size, if oversize pistons are in use they will usually be stamped on the top as to what size over.

Only true way to know for certain is to measure the bore.
Thx DriverRider,
thought I Was looking more for the gap where the ring sets in the piston grove that space between the top of the ring and the piston grove, maybe they are all the same, As far as the size of the piston and the bore, they are all stock,

ok heres what the honda manule says ,
ring to-ring gland clearance
std.--- 0.02-0.05mm (0.001-0.002 in.)
servicelimit---- 0.12mm ( 0.005 in )

is this what you want?
Ya that what I read WDA, Thx..
Was hoping there was a way I could check it with out having to order the rings first first ..

Unless it is a Honda MC thing there are no oversize ring to ring land clearances piston rings for height. There is only oversize rings for bore diameter. If you have standard pistons you order standard rings and check the end gap in bore.

Could you post the service figure that is of concern.
The only rings you are going to find are these, Hastings Part# for rings is 2C4901. There may be a number for oversize bore if you find a parts man that knows anything.
It would seem your concerned with the ring to piston groove clearance.

If that is the case just check the clearance of the old rings.
If that's out of specification it's likely you need new pistons as there are not and likely never were thicker rings to correct that.

here is the ring gap (top & second )0.1 - 0.3 mm (0.004- 0.012 in )
ring end gap (oil ring side rail ) 0.2 - 0.9 mm (0.008 - 0.035 in )
is this any help ?
Ok thx Guy's
The way it reads in the manual was not real clear for a novice like myself..
This was a big help..
Again just wanted to get it right the first time ..
Thank You All...
