I recently purchased an 83 1100 Asp and the radio doesnt work. The radio stations show on dash but no sound from speakers. Mute switch is not on, speakers check out ok but get no sound. I have checked out all fuses and connectors in fairing but still no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you checked it with a headset hooked up? If it plays through a headset then you're looking at a bad speaker amp or the inline fuse to it.

I dont believe it has a headset hookup

Do you have the CB and/or cassette options?

My '83 Aspy has the full radio assembly. It has 9 different fuses hidden in various places behind the left signal light. When I first got it the speakers were intermittent. Fuses all looked good but on closer inspection a couple of fuse end caps had vibrated loose over the years. Replaced them all and everything has worked since. (And now that I've said that I bet my radio fails tomorrow!)

I also replaced the speakers with some new 2-ways. Made a big difference.

No I dont have the cb or communicator options on this bike.
I checked all of the fuses but I will have another look.

:waving:There is a 4 amp fuse for the power amp which could be bad. Sometimes fuses look good and is best to check them with an ohm meter.

Thanks guys. I found the problem. The previous owner had the bike repainted. When he put the wiring back together for the stereo system, he crossed up the wires. Looks like he had the power supply (black wire) for the amp hooked up to some spare wire (green) that wasnt being used for anything thus no sound. Everything is good now. Speakers dont sound so great so maybe I will keep a lookout for some replacement units.
Thanks again.
