84 pulse generator coil replacement or switching to 85 generator..

Is it possible to replace 84 pulse generator coil w/o engine removal? Do coils just die or wobbling shaft destroy them?
One of coils has no continuity.

I think it's possible but bring your patience with you. As far as why it failed, age probably played a part in it. A wobbling shaft would ceate other problems such as an oil leak.

OK, Clymer says remove engine, Honda says remove swing arm. Who did the job?
