Went for a short ride yesterday and about 40 miles into the ride my Aspy acted like she was running out of gas and then just died. I had fuel in the tank so checked the fuel pump and it was pumping fine. Pulled the line off the carbs and made sure they were clear. I could get her to run enough to load her on the trailer (fortunately I was local and called the wife!) but she was running rough, as if only 2 or 3 cylinders were firing. I went for a short ride a week ago with no problems and prior to that I rode up to Atlanta from Brunswick and back with several days of riding in between with no problems. So, one of my first thoughts was the gas may have evaporated and left me with ethanol but she didn't set up long enough. It was 100 F a day or two last week so it is possible, I don't know (I keep her under a 3-car shelter that is open on 3 sides). My next thought was the stator but all the dash lights lit up brightly and the starter turned over like a rat on acid so don't think that's the prob (I could be wrong, that's why I am here). My next thought was there might be some trash in the carbs. If draining the tank and putting fresh gas in doesn't fix the prob how difficult is it to clean the carbs? I've pulled the carbs off my boat before with no problems so hoping this will be about the same. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Bob
