/forums/images/emoticons/sad.gif On a '85 Aspencade , floorboard equipped, and Crash bar equipped, the lower engine mounting bolt , right side,  is a huge  bolt, projecting almost 2 inches from the frame. It causes the muffler downpipes to "hang " , preventing complete removal of the muffler to the floor.... I did get the starter out  by gentle prying on the other side... which was the whole point of removing all this clutter... and its being tested and repaired... but... I would like to replace all 4 muffler "crush " gaskets.. while I have come this far.. so..... Does anyone know if this big lower  engine mounting bolt is... a) a drift thru bolt ?/forums/images/emoticons/smile.gifb) removable with a double nut trick?/forums/images/emoticons/mad.gif or c) muffler has to be disassembled around it?./forums/images/emoticons/confused.gif. and if, perchance, I cannot get it out ....  can crush gaskets be safelty re-used without chancing an exhaust leak ?/forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/gunhead.gif  SilverDave

I suppose I could separate the headers from the mufflers... I was trying to drop the exhaust as a single unit/forums/images/emoticons/confused.gif...  and Yes.. the bike is sitting on its sidestand... and Yes,  all the boards ,and crash bars, and rad grill just came out of a quick trip in the dishwasher , looking much better.......and as for the %&#@%  studs./forums/images/emoticons/mad.gif. yes..I got the headers removed enough to get the starter out.. most  of  nuts came off as they should... but two of them backed the entire stud out, the nuts were so badly rusted on /forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/gunhead.gif... Should I just re-install them as a "set"... or should I try to separate the nut from the stud by boiling them in penetrating oil ?/forums/images/emoticons/mad.gif and the starter guy just called.. the starter is cleaned ,and rebuilt.../forums/images/emoticons/big_grin.gif  and ready to pick up!
