I am going to look at a used 85 Aspencade, and an 87 Interstate this weekend. Mileage (low) and price of each are very close. All things being equal, I am leaning toward the Aspencade, since after 20 some years, what difference does 2 years make? Any thoughts here? Both are second owners, they knew the original owners, and just don't ride them that much.
the earlier 1200's did have stator issues, but most likely all the bad stators have long been replaced.... the aspencade has more do-dads.... so I would just look closely to look at condition
the 1200 is a mighty fine bike
and then, regardless, there are things I would do before riding.... change all the fluids (including brake and clucth... re-grease the splines at the rear wheel/drive, and change the timing belts
My 1st Wing was an 84 Aspencade, my current ride is an 86 Interstate. If everything works on both bikes, I'd go for the Aspencade. Decent stereo, and the ability to adjust the air suspension with-out the use of a hose is a big plus...
And just because you haven't got a wing yet is no reason not to post more often.:cheeky1: :gunhead:
I asked the guy with the Aspy to call me if anyone was going to look at the bike earlier than me (8am Sat) , so he just called and said he sold it (Fri afternoon)! So the Aspy is gone. Oh well.
