When I started my bike this cold morning (34F), I noticed the typical condensation exhaust coming the two pipe ends as normal, but a 3rd plume coming out about mid way down the exhaust on the left near the indent of the muffler. When I bent down to take a look, sure enough there is a 1/8" round hole right on the bottom and I could feel the exhaust pulses. It never did this before. When I got home tonight and took a quick look, I saw the same size hole on the right side in the same exact place.
Are these drain holes? Holes where rivets used to be?
I didn't check for sure to see if was coming out the same area on the right side, but I will tomorrow. The pessimistic side of me says my muffler is rotting from the inside and has got to this hole.
Those holes are there to drain any moisture that gets into the exhaust through condensation or other means. If the right side isn't open, open it. They are a good thing.
