The biggest thing to look out for is the charging system, specifically the stator. You need to find out if the stator has ever been changed out, and if the stock barrel connectorson the three yellow wires coming from the stator (locatedon the left side of the battery) have been removed and the wires soldered. Also have a look at the dogbone fuse and associated wires on the right side of the battery to see if they are okay. Usuallythe dogbone fuseneeds to be replaced with a blade type fuse.
Check charging system, ask if PO has maintenance records...when timing belts were changed, if they have been. Last time brakes have been put on, tires, and by the battery, see if the 3 yellow wires have been soldered together or still running to the plug. If they are still pugged together, take it apart and check for extensive heat marks, brittle plastics etc.
