I am hoping to set my 1200 up to tow a light trailer, but am unsure what is needed if I buy used... I have seen the chrome 'platform' with the hole for the ball and maybe on bracket on each side, these brackets mounting out of site behind the saddlebags. I have also seen a set up that showed those parts plus what looks like the crash bars and assorted chorme tubing that is already on my bike. Any clues (on that limited info) as to what I need so I don't purchase stuff I don't need? thanks deputyb central IN

I have seen the one that just replaces the stock bumper that goes between the saddle bag brackets I think that is all there is to it. I am building a 1200 trailer hitch that is pretty simple, not done with it or I would post it. Here are a few pictures of it.
2 pieces of 1" square tubing 24 1/2 " long, 1 10.5" piece of 2x2x 3/16 angle iron and 2 U bolts.

Ends cut at 15* angles

Holes drilled for U bolts also at 15* angle to match up with the saddle bag rack.

Hole 3/8" from the end to bolt to the front bottom bolt in the saddle bag.
