Went online bought a Y50-N18L-A3-12 Volt 21 AH, 350 CCA, Rechargeable Maintenance Free SLA AGM Motorcycle Battery

Says it is to fit my bike but it is just a bit narrower than the battery that was in it
Put a thin strip of rubber between the battery and the bracket that holds the battery in place to keep it from shifting.

Keep this battery or send it back and get one that fits exactly????
thanks

I have a really undersize AGM in my '93, came in the bike when I bought it 6 yrs ago. Who knows when the PO installed it. There's a piece of 1x6 board behind the battery to keep it from sliding around in the box. Powers the bike just fine - still!

I'd just keep it.

I appreciate all the suggestions for the fitting of the battery - That is secondary.
the question is did I purchase the correct battery and will it work - wiring it in everything currently starts right up.

Hi, this is the second on I've bought in over the past two years, it's a sealed battery, arrives charged with enough to start your bike. I've been very happy with this! Paid about $70.00 US. I live near Cincinatti, OH and have a 1986 Aspencade 1200A. Fits perfectly! Hope this helps :) -> Amazon.com

Note: the 1st one I bought was about 5 years ago, this second (and latest), I bought back in 2020!
