Need some help here. Have changed tps to honda car tps, new cam belts, new ns sensor, new fuel filter and fuel pump. have cleaned fuel tank, have no trouble codes when bike boggs down and will stall out when comming to a stop. will restart, give it some wide open throttle and will fly for just a few miles and start its act again. also when this happens and you release the throttle it will backfire out the exhaust. need direction, have no hair left to pull out!

For the backfiring problem I would change out the rubber o-rings that attach the thottle boddies to the intake !& the lack of power I would check the air cleaner & maybe run some techron fuel system cleaner or seafoam or bg44k & check to see if you have any blinking lights in back by the tail lites ! as these will give you a code maybe check the timming belts for ware as they may have jumped time! if these don`t help Im sure someone from the forum will comealong that can help ! good luck ! Something is causing it to lean out. I don't have any information on the SEI so just guessing. Maybe the temp sensor (TW) or I'm not sure it even has one but MAP sensor or for some reason it is loosing fuel pressure. May be as simple as the gas cap not venting.

Just curious… What do your spark plugs look like? White, brown, black and are all plugs consistent in color? Is it idling smooth or erratic? Has your process of elimination included a vacuum leak check?

My 85 LTD had similar symptoms. You may want to check the vacuum lines directly in front of the air box. You may need to pull it out to access all of the lines. Check at the "T" and replace the hoses if necessary. Any kind of vacuum leak in this area will cause backfiring. The hoses are very easy to knock off when replacing your air filter. LOL

If you do decide to sell it, let me know. I'm taking a run up to PA the middle of October via I-77 and you're not far off I-77 to take a look at it.
