I am looking at buying a friends 1988 GL1500. The bike idles and runs great as long as you keep the speed at 55 mph or under, but once you kick it up to 60-65 mph it stalls out like it runs out of fuel. You can pull over and let the bike sit for a minute and it will fire right back up. Any ideas what it might be?

Could be as simple as a fuel filter???

My GL 1500 did that to me on a trip once.

Try changing the fuel filter. It is located inside the fuel filler compartment on the right.

Check the gas tank filler cap vent. If it can't breathe a vacuum will form in the tank making it impossible for the fuel to flow.
