My 88 has the problem of low speed surge. The honda dealer will not do the service bullitin that is suppose to correct this problem becasue it is to old of a bike. Will carbs off a 93 1500 match up to the 88 and would it probably cure the problem of low speed hesistation/surge that is in the 88.

Thanks,
Walt

This was a discussion we had a while back involving '95 carbs and '88s. Not exactly on the money, but it may be helpful . . .

I had the same surge and the RPMs falling off just as the clutch was completely out.
It was especially bad if the motor was not fully warm. I put a 4 degree timing trigger and new timing belts and my problem is gone! I purchased the trigger off Ebay. If you want I can get you the guys Email.

Thanks Bill I will give that a try perhaps it would be easier then trying to get a good working card and swap it out.

I put carbs off a 99 on my 88 and changedthetiming gear and all vac hoseit is a lot better but i think the most of the problem was vacuum leaks, get some high performance automative vacuum line like from jegs.com

this almost as much work as the carbs but it is just tedious removing all the tupperware and then replacing it should take about 3 days at few hours a day
