i was wondering if i can remove the mufflers on a 89 goldwing and replace withstraight pipes without causing any problems to the motor

That's the same as removing the baffles from the stock mufflers. The 1500 will run fine (stable idle etc) but sound terrible!

I had a set of slash cut ones for a while. Neverhad any problems or loss of economy but the noise got to me eventually and I sold them and bought OEM ones instead.

You will get some vibration as well, but as the 1500 is so smooth to start with I guess a few vibes will keep you awake. :D

My Hollywood Longs are pretty much straight pipes. I think the sound is great around town and under 2500 RPM when cruising but they can be a little too loud on longer highway runs.

I just ordered a set of baffles for them - to install for long runs so I can enjoy the tunes :action::band::dance:
