Can anyone out there pleaserecommend tome what make battery to buy formy 1500 interstate. Alsothe amp/hour and physical size.Is there any advantage in purchasing a gel cell?.

The gel types are supposed to have a deeper cycle, greater capacity to holdmore of acharge. I've still found that this doesn't mean they will last any longer than a Yuasa, but others will probably have different opinions.

The deeper cycle means it will crank for longer before going flat.

I don't know how long you guys are getting out of the fancier batteries, but I've usually gotten around 2yrs out of cheap ones and think that's fine. I just replace them every couple years. I can buy three cheap ones compared to one of the latest hi-tech.

2 years seems average for a bike battery. If you use a bettery tender or similar regularly you can usualy expect at least another year or more from the battery.

I found a battery keeper at Harbor Freight for $6.00. Works fine keeps the battery up and doesn't overcharge. They are online. Lot cheaper than others I've seen.
