'95 SE - Replace front emblem

You can get emblem replacement speed nuts from Cresent Moons that fit on the back over those plastic studs. You just need to be careful about removing the old ones so you don't break the studs.

here's the page for the ones that fit the 1100's, may also fit other bikes.

It will also have the 3M tape on the back. You will need to pry it up carefully.

Dang it! 3M tape is great putting it on. But if you ever have to take it off.... it sux!!

Well I screwed that post up....

Bagmaster, I meant to comment that the pins/stubs on the back of the emblem are tiny. It looks like the speed nuts would be too big.

Dang it! 3M tape is great putting it on. But if you ever have to take it off.... it sux!!

Yes it does make it difficult to remove. You can get a can of spray decal remover from your local auto parts store that should help. It should not hurt the paint just remove the sticky stuff. I am in the process of repainting my wing and had to get some to remove the emblems and other decals.

Spray lots of wd40 or other silicone spray as you gently lift will lift tape,i did this to lift badges off side boxes did nt damage paint at all.

I've lifted factory emblems by getting them hot with a hair dryer first. Softens up the adhesive.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mention that the ones I did weren't on a 'wing. Not sure if it would be different or not.

Take fishing line and use it as a saw to break loose the original adhesive. Once you get the badge off you can clean it up.
Use 3M Silicone badge tape to re-attach.

Consult an automotive paint supply store for the professional tape adhesive. Or come here and save the $60 on the tape. I have a roll.

The saddle bag emblems on my Gold wing didn't have any speed nuts on either Wing....But finding speed nuts has not been a problem for me...There is still an Family owned and operated Ace Hardware Store just a couple miles away from me....They have in their nut and bolt bins speed nuts both 6mm and 8mm which I think is the size called for in the Honda Parts break downs???? Cheaper too I gave about 10 or 15 cents apiece for the ones I bought ....ones in the suppliers parts break downs are like a dollar or more each????? Check with Home Depot or Lowe's too they might have them, if you are looking.....

The two pins that go into the holes are probably just for alignment, so you get it on straight. It is held on with just the 3M tape. I haven't had one of these off but I took of the Honda emblem on the front of the fairing.

That has been my experience with the GL1500 pins. No speed nuts. Just alignment.

Another good tool is a thin guitar string. Nice and tough.
