Did a search and checked all my books. Can anyone tell me the correct oil level or amount for my 98 SE? I assume you do these like most others - spring out, fork compressed, oil level = level from top of fork to oil. Thanks!!

The Honda manual gives a volume measurement but Progressive Suspension says to set the oil level NO HIGHER THAN 5.5" from the oil to the top of the tube with the spring removed and the fork tube fully collapsed.

Honda manual says 10.8oz. in right fork, 11oz. in left. They also state oil level at 9.4" but without collapsing the tubes. So if the travel is 4" that would agree with Progressive.

A search on GL1500 fork oil gives this;

right :320cc (10.8 US oz, 11.2 Imp oz)
left : 325cc.(11.0 US oz, 11.4 Imp oz)
