I really can't see any reason to go for the 6F model if touring is what one is going to use the bike for. The real Goldwing already has all the amenities for touring. If Red ever tried on the back seat of an 1800 for a while it would be hard to ever settle for anything less.
I can understand your feeling about skiing and motorcycling. In my case my three favorite things are flying, sailing and motorcycling. I think it's because all three aren't inert things like a car. Flying and sailing is something you have to learn to deal with wind and water, they operate in a fluid medium. One has to feel the forces to fly or sail well, both are very dynamic in that a boat is alive and always changing, wind veers, puffs and lulls happen, currents make a difference. A sailor is part of the totality of man and boat. Aircraft, especially small and lower powered ones give the greatest sense of flight available to humans. An ultralight gives so much more feeling of flight than any a heavy multi engine airplane, aerobatics are both strenuous, adrenaline producing, yet sublime. A motorcycle seems to be a living thing. It takes skill and becoming pretty much one with a bike to get out of it what it can give. A twisty, hilly road can do more for one's psyche than a battery of psychiatrists. I feel a lucky man who's been able to pursue all three of these interests in my life.
