I am very pleased to announce that she who is boss and myself have added a new addition to the family. We are now the proud parents of a 1997 GL 1500 SE. I could not stand not having a bike anymore so when this one arrived at my dealer I looked at it and adopted it as of today. I pick it up next weekend. It is dark green (Sorry Redwing, I have always owned Red, but there were no choices and I like the green anyway) Very well maintained one owner, my dealer sold the bike in 97 to the previous owner. She has 104,000KM and lots of goodies. We are still searching for a name for our new bundle of joy, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And if any of you know of any issues I should be aware of with this vintage, I would love to hear from you. Thanks

Congrats Chuck-sounds like a wonderful machine. A name--hmmmmm, I have not yet given my wing a name. Do you want a single word name? I will think on it.

I may call mine "Aurora" mistressof Zeus, and the name of a wonderful airplane that I once flew-also the northern lights.

You did Good !!:clapper:

The 97 has the "Valkrye" internal parts and gears!

You might want to call her "Patty" after "St. Patty's day" since she's Green and you're on an "Irish based" web site, just a thought!:baffled::goofygrin:

Considering the color, and your avatar, I would suggest "Frogger" for the bike...

I have been watching a couple of 97/98 15's on ebay. They sure are pretty. I am partial to the white ones in that vintage. So smooth and sleek.

Of the newest ones, I LOVE the Yellow ones...

When I got my '85 I had to come with a name too. What a dilemma! My first thought was Drusilla after my favorite succubus (long story...) and then I thought "Mustache" so I could offer rides but Rodent put her (webbed) foot down on that one. Since it's blue and a matching trailer came with it I named it Eeyore as the tail (trailer) comes off.

Actually Goldwingers Avatar looks more like "Toad of Toad Hall" but that is a bit of a mouthful, so Kermit would be good. :clapper:I just hope he never meets a pink Harley or he would have to ask if the owner called it "Miss Piggy"

Thank you all. After no having a bike this year and the weather this summer being one of the best in years, it will really feel good to be "back in the saddle again"I like the idea of changing my name to greenwinger, how do I change my name? And if I do, do I lose my Guru status and the pay cheque that goes with it??

Thanks John, As soon as I am comfortable on the new beast, we can go Dairy Queen Hunting. Went by the shop today to drop off my plate so it can be attached to the "GreenQueen" or "Queen Green"( thats not a bad one) and turns out the guy turned in the big hard cover Honda service manual with electrical trouble shooting book, A side from floor boards it has all around saddle bags lights, arm rests for passenger (pillion) and a driver back rest. A remote bike alarm with proximity sensor and pager, full bike cover, tool kit and owners manual apear to have never been touched, and a few other chrome bits. Looks like a better deal every time I stop by.

To change your name to Greenwinger, do a panic stop and allow yourself to slide forward over the tank to connect forcefully with the steering head. Or you could open a zipper this winter and be Blue Winger. Or drink copious amounts of beer, down a few diuretics and become Yellow Winger...Hmmm I will let you deduce Brown Winger for yourself and Redwing can explain the Red Winger option.

Talk to Paul about Pink Winger.
