This is one to put in a file, and watch it on one of those snowy, windy, wintery mornings, and dream of the spring thaw.:applause::applause::applause:

Yea, what he said, just sitting here in Sandy waiting for the weather to change and go put some miles on. Love the video

Yeah, what they both said.
I bought myself a video camera a short while back, but I didn't have a chance
to shoot much footage before the riding season ran out. I'm looking forward
to making some videos of my own in the spring.

That is one fine road !!

Isn't that the section from Hwy 64 going toward the Blue Ridge Parkway?

I rode that when i was in the area, but noticed the section after the Parkway had chip and seal on it ... so I did not ride that part. :sadguy:

Did they do that all the way down the mountain?

I know you're an experienced rider Yellow Wolf but I'm a little surprised that you take those left-hand curves so far to the outside. Of course taking the curves to the inside can have potential hazards as well. Especially on a blind curve. The last time I read one of your posts was when you went back to driving.... I think. How many Yellow GL1800's have you owned? The one in the video sure sounds sweet.

I'll soon have a new 2012 Gl1800..... I hope!

Asphalt roads are winterized by putting a fine grit gravel on them along with new hot tar to "seal the cracks".

The new tar coating seals up the cracks in the asphalt so that water can't enter and then freeze. Ice destroys asphalt roads in a heart beat.

excuse my ignorance but what is "chip and seal"
What John said, plus it is the surface that makes seat crawl up my butt. Besides a very loose surface to ride on, if you catch it early enough, the tar and stones cause one heck of a mess to shiny surfaces.

Never seen that stuff here in Wisconsin.

Yea the ice tears up the roads here too !!

Road salt does a toll on them too.

But the worst damage here is done by the snow plows...

They do the patching in the fall after all the major road projects with whatever money is left.

The cold patches are gone the first time a plow goes over them in winter

There are some pretty good potholes come spring :X
