ABS Plastic

Does anyone know where you can buy the ABS Plastic like Rudy uses for his trunk repairs? I've googled it up and looked at several sites and I don't see anything like it at any of the Auto supply houses, Grainger, etc. I don't need it for a repair but need to shim something that I think that would work well.

EBay look for ABS sheets.

Its not cheap!
Amazon has it too... about $20 for a 12x24 sheet...
Thanks I was hoping you could by it some local brand name type store.
Another option, while not a great one, is to find a local plastic supplier. The problem is that mosy of them only sell it in 4'x8' sheets like plywood. I got one a few years ago for ice machine repairs. I think it was something like $25, but its a huge sheet and they don't normally like to sell it one sheet at a time.
Might try stores that carry Radio installations. They use it to fit radios into dashes. Not sure of the thickness that they will carry, generally they use the thinner stuff. Sign companies may use it also.
A cheap source of ABS is ABS pipe. You can get black plastic pipe at most hardware stores. Cut off a length, saw one side of it lengthwise, heat it in an oven or with a heat gun to flatten it out and you've got sheet ABS. The smaller pipe and fittings will make slightly thinner sheets. You can rough cut a piece, heat it up and press it in or over a cracked part to mold it to fit then glue the piece in with ABS cement, the cheap black gooey stuff from a hardware store. Not the two part stuff, just the old ABS stuff in the screw top can with the dauber under the lid.
Depending what you actually need maybe ask Rudy if he has any extra he'd sell you.
Call these guys and ask if they have off fall pieces that you could ride over and buy.

I've got a local place that sells scrap bit buy the pound -- I'd be happy to stuff a little onto an appropriately sized enevelope if ya need --

Shoot me a PM with what you're looking for and I'll see if I can help out some ...
Wow you all have given me some good ideas. I'm going to work on it shortly and may come with something. I'll holler! The ABS pipe thing might be the easiest......
Grainger does indeed have it. I bought a 2x4 sheet of 1/8" not long ago. They have several sheet sizes and several thicknesses.
I have a couple of 1/8" thick sheets, how much are you thinking of needing? I bought 3 sheets, still have half left.

I sent a piece to someone on here repairing their 1200 fairing, and that was the end of that.

Thank you for reminding me... did you ever get the email I sent you after that arrived? I never heard back from you and then (much to my disapointment) I forgot about it. Send me an email or PM if you get a chance.
