Hey guys, thanx for the response to my last post. However, i think the guy that responded, was a little confused about what I am trying to do. I am trying to add a cigarette lighter adapter to power my accessories (Ipod, satellite radio, GPS). I need to know how and where do I hook that up. I am brand new to the 1800

1st - where are you planning on installing the cigarette lighter socket?

2nd - do you want just a 12V outlet to power these accessories, or do you want it to light cigarettes as well?(They are different sockets)

Lastly, do you want it 'hot' at all times, or just when the bike is running/switched on?

I'm not the OP but since I was about to ask the same question I'll give my answer to Dusty.

I'd like to install it in the left or right (lockable) pocket, for accessories only, really just my Nuvi GPS and only with the ignition.

Even better these days would be a usb outlet, much smaller and can power many more useful things. It would also be very nice to have one for the co-pilot as well, ideally in one of the cubby holes under her armrest.

Note that this may not be what bigeasy is after.

It is my understanding that there is an accessory plug when removing the left pocket from the fairing. Can be a real buggar to find in the nest of wires.

I have the one in the left pocket, although I think it's the worst place to fit it. I like the look of this handlebar one from Kuryakyn:

There is a power socket accessory available for mounting inside the left pocket on the 1800 but I found that it doesn't fit on the comfort model due to the foot warmer lever taking the necessary space under the pocket. I chose to remove the trunk liner and adapt a harness for always hot power off of the trunk lock unit harness. Mounted a 4 bamger multiple socket unit to the lid once the liner was back in place. As for power in the left front pocket, once it is removed there is a rubber boot directly below the left windshield lever that covers two connectors. The white one is the aux in cable from the pocket and the red one is accessory power. Good luck.

When you get a chance take a look at "Powerlet" accessories. They make nice stuff. The plugs and sockets are kind of a BMW knock-off and have a positive click-in so the plug can't vibrate loose or push out.
