Adding aftermarket driving lights to GL1200

does anyone have some suggestions as to what type, ie brand/size/wattage lights I could add to my 84 wing to give me better vision at night. I ride a lot at night and want to be able to avoid deer/tire tread/cows/ and mother inlaws, that might be out for an evening walk. the stock light just doesnt give me much projection as far as seeing down the road.

actually, any aux lamp will do the job.. almost all of them run H3 halogen bulbs, 55Watts by default, you should change them to 35 watt bulbs. or install an hid xenon kit, but thats another story...

why switch them from 55w to 35w, to lighten the load on the stator?

Yes, the charging system on the 1200 is very limited and weak, unless you're already running a high output stator or an external alternator. i would go for the 35watts bulbs or well... anther option is.. to switch your headlamp bulb to hid xenon (35 or 55W), you may not longer need additional lighting!
