The pilot screws will be between 1.5 - 3.0 turns out normally. I normally start them out about 2-3 turns then slowly turn them inward until the engine speeds up. If you continue to turn the pilots in you will notice that the engine will start to slow down, stop at that point and back the screws out about a half turn and you will be close. You may have to give the idle speed screw a little turn in or out to keep the engine running while doing this. These pilot adjustments should be made while the engine is near mfg recommended idle (approx. 800-1000 rpm).
