As Bagmaster said, there is everything in the manual, but I just want toaccent that the valves should be adjusted with the engine cold. Don't overlookthat, it's important.

On the '82 'Wing the intakes are set at .004" and exhaust at .005". I go for a light drag on the feeler gauge. If you are going to check carb sync on the 1000 and 1100s check the valve lash first, it can affect carb sync.

As the miles rack-up they hardly need much adjustment. It seems the valve seats settle into the head and unless some damage or overheating occurs they rarely need ongoing adjustment.

I always used .004" intake and .005" exhaust specs for my '81. I still check every 10-20k miles but I haven't loosened the locknuts in over 5 years. Just don't need much adjustment on well broken-in engine.

Valves adj should be checked every 15k miles or everytime you replace your spark plugs (which ever comes first, it is part of the "tune-up")
