You, sir, are my new hero! Been looking all over creation for aftermarket rotors! Do you have any idea how hard it is to search the web for aftermarket parts for a 1980 GL1100i??

Well, I suppose you must have some inkling, else you wouldn't have created this list. In any case, thanks a million for it!

I think the rear brake pad on the 83 gl1100 and interstate should be a fa69 not a fa29. JB

Nicely done.

Looks like this post needs to be moved to the new reference forum!

Wow!

I just did a search for "1980 GL110i brake pads" and got this post. I thought it might be a little old, but hey, posts are kept around for a reason, and as far as I'm concerned, the info in this one is it!

Old or not, Neil deserves mad props for this list!

Thought this should be added over here.

Posted by Peterbylt;

The thermal switch on my 81 gl1100 has been broken for some time.

I dropped a couple of wires down and hardwired a toggle switch across it.

$80 or $90 dollars for the replacement switch seemed a little excessive.

I read on the nakedwings board that a thermal switch out of a 94 Geo Metro 1.0L was the right thread and temp so I went to Advance auto parts and bought one for $16.95.

The switch did not have the protruding extension on the inside and had different connectors but it did have the correct threads and screwed right in.

I made some little connector wire adapters so I would not have tocut the original wiring harness and I wanted to keep the bypass switch.

The switch works like a champ and comes on when it should and shuts off when it should.

This might be an update for anyone looking for the Fram CH6009 oil filter. I checked with 3 different Autozone places and theircomputerssaid the same thing. They don't carry it anymore and the manufacturer doesn't make it anymore. But I did not check any other parts stores for it.Dealer was only$8.

Just FYI. Radiator hose for a 85 1200a advance auto parts, part number E71604CS "Curved radiator hose" around 12 bucks.
I can get two uppers and two mabey three lowers out of this one hose. YMMV

Air filter, my (85 1200a) and i guess all other like year models look like an industral air filter for 0-turn mower or wood chipper, however since the prices are pretty fair online i dont think i will be looking very hard for one localy but if i find one i will post it.

advance auto partshere in lexington kentucky has plenty of the fram oil filters which sits next to the motorcycle oil, i picked up three off the shelf just for GP along with 4 qts of valvoline 4stroke motorcycle oil and a new stant thermo stat.

just to recap parts numbers for my 85 gl1200a.

advance auto parts, radiator hose: pn/ E71604CS. 11.99

Stant, Thermostat: pn/ 13868 7.98

Fram, Oil filter: pn/ CH6009 3.77

valvoline: motorcycle oil, pn/vv740 3.99 per qt
