The size that came with the bike is much smaller in heigth, yet Iam being told that this is the one for the 83 honda aspencade....I took the rubber gaskett off and managed to make it work but the fit is still not completely sealed. What effect doe's this have on the carbs ?? I noticed when I put all the content to the air breather back in place it was one hell of a tight fit with all the wires and cables running along the sides.

You'll have to get the one that fits your bike.

If you take any gaskets out to make it fit then it won't seal out dust/dirt which will screw your engine.

As Cycleman says, get the right one or you will have no protection what so ever from road dirt , grit,sand, and all the other nasty stuff that will absolutely kill the motor.
