Hello all
Im the proud owner of a 2008 KLR 650, a 1991 BMW K75 and a 1996 Honda ST100, which I am TOTALLY in love with and have over 150K miles.
I have the chance to "buy" a 1991 Aspencade with about 80K miles, for the cost of repairing the clutch!!!! YAY! The bike has been sitting for about 9 months. The engine is strong and is started weekly to keep the fluids flowing.
However, the clutch was not engaged during this period and it seems the clutch plate has absorbed the fluid, swelled and is now frozen and needs replacing.
I have a clymers manual for it. I suppose I am asking for some experiential input...anyone out there replaced the clutch in this vehicle? If so, I'd greatly appreciate some advice, short cuts, things to avoid, best place to buy parts, etc.....
I'm beyond excited about this as I've been looking for a big bike for my GF and I to tour the country in relative comfort. We like the ST1100 for trips of less that about 500 miles per day...But really want something on which we can spend a month or more. This may be just the ticket.
Thanks
Larry
