bys, well alt woked on and off, have didgital meter on bike, 11,000 miles on rebuild, found broken spring on one of the brushes

I just paid ~$6 for a pair of brushes at cyclemaxohio. I also bought 4 rubbers for $16. When I get some bearings, I will be able to pull it out and put it back in.

My alternator is working fine, but a stethoscope indicates a little rumbling noise, so this will be a little preventative maintenance. I would hate forthe bearing to spin or lockup.

foos, be careful when u pull it out, wires connected 2 back of alt., 8 mm . unhook bat. cables first. mark alt. with magic marker, so u get it back together the rite way. small allen wrench to hold brushes back when u put it back together.

You probably already know but the 1500 Alt bearing # is N S K 6000 D U..

I just bought one at the bearing shop, $16.65.. Don't know if it's a good price.. In a hurry so I probably payed too much...........:gunhead:
