aluminum crush washers for GL1100

Hey All,

I am assembling parts to do a rebuild on the rear brakes on my 82 GL1100 std. I'm having heartburn paying the dealer $2-$4 for each crush washer. I want to avoid ordering them from a web store because of shipping cost and time delay. Has anyone found a Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, etc.aluminum crush washer that fits those banjo bolts.

In doing my waterpump last month I refused to pay the dealer for the three crush washers and found a Mitsubishi part number for aluminum crush washers, the Mitsubishi p/n is MF660031. I picked them up at the Mitsubishi dealer on the way home and paid 47 cents each.

So again, has anyone got a different source that I may be able to pick up myself?

One last thing, I haven't taken those banjo bolts off yet and in the low light of the garage this morning those crush washer looked to be aluminum and since they are against the magnesium caliper body I'm assuming they are. If I'm wrong I want to be set straight because copper crush washers are no problem to get.

Copper will work just as well.

The stainless brake line kit that I got for my 1100 came with copper crush washers for the banjo bolts, and they worked fine.

GS, where did you buy that kit, and have you done the front brakes, too?

BTW, THANK YOU for your DIY write-ups! :)

As for these washers.... I can't be the only one who neverreplaces them, when doing maintenance.

Most of the aisian manufacturers use the same size copper washers (10mm) on the brake calipers.

I used the Venco Wings kit, and yes, I did the fronts at the same time. Made a HUGE difference in braking, and probably the best single upgrade I've made to my bike.
