My first real bike was a 1966 Honda 160 CL Scrambler, a bike that I rode the wheels off of, terrorizing the streets of Seattle while I was masquerading as a college student....even took a multi-day, two-up tour on the damned thing up to Canada and back! And, yeah, I own up to the fact that I once, while drunk, rode it through the open doors of the original Red Robin Tavern, which is currently more of a Seattle icon of the sixties than the bike itself! Arriving in such a way seemed to upset the owners of the place no end, which was a serious matter, since they were also my employers. If I remember right, the penalty for such an offensive act was a week's suspension without pay. Very serious matter, since my main source of nourishment was the free beer I snuck during my shifts as a bartender, and the atrocious, blister-packaged Poorboy Sandwiches heated in an electric oven behind the bar.... Anyway.....

It seems like I was riding an icon during the time, and didn't even know it. Regardless of what you think of the small Japanese motorcycles of the sixties, they brain-washed many of us into the motorcycle lifestyle, and look at us today! Lol.....

Yup I remember Honda's Invasion into the motorcycle market in the US..It didn't take long before the American public jumped on a Honda, leaveing their Cushmans, Whizzers, and Simplex's parked in the garage, never to be ridden again..The 305 Dream was the First Honda I ever rode, OH Lord I wanted to just keep going and going, but the owner knew I would bring it home. I did about6 hours later, he never let me ride it again???:?

CJ the only time I ever rode a scooter into a store, was when on my way to viisit this cousin of mine that loved to ride my scooter with me, lived in a neighborhood that this motorcycle Gang ran it...The Laura Koppe Gang, which later became Bandito's...They seen me on my scooter and chased me into a 7-11 store, thats back when they were "open air" stores..The owner called the cops, who gave me an escort out of that neighborhood!!!!....My cousin had to come to my neighborhood after that to ride with me..Yeah riding into that store all the way to the beer coolers was not cool...

Boy would I love to have one of those today. As simple as it gets. And it is beautiful. Considering my size, it would need to be a little bigger, but not as big as the Triumph Scrambler, and I would still want the electrical and mechanical simplicity of the Honda. I have seen many beautiful old Japanese bikes for sale, but it's always the same story. No parts.

I had the same bike, never rode it into a bar but every where else. Tough doesn't even begin to describe it, it was an anvil on wheels.

Rode my horse into a bar, my buddy rode his into a Holliday Inn and talked them into letting him use their elevator. He told them he was going to make his horse do a tryout for a movie and the horse had to ride an elevator. Good times

If anybody ever sees this bike for sale, in any condition, anywhere -- or it's companion, the CB160 -- please pm Cousin Jack? I've got a place in my living room all picked out for it!

(I don't have a single picture of the bike I owned or of me on it....but this is how I looked when I owned it! My god, what time has done to us!)

About 10 years later (Spring of '75) a HS classmate of mine road his Suzuki dirt bike through the Senior Hall wearing full riding gear and a mask during a change in class.

The problem was even though his face was for the most part covered everyone knew who it was based on the bike. I believe he got suspended from high school for a bit and was not allowed to participate in Senior skip day.

I saw it there also, along with a 150 or 160 dream. Had the 150 myself. Going to have to stop in there some day.
