Okay darksiders, double darksiders, and other rule-breakers. I’ve tried to find this answer and apologize if it’s been done already.

First, I’m referring to a GL1500. Many darksides like the BT45 Battleax rear tire on the front. Many of those like to run them backwards.

So, why a rear tire on the front?

How’s it different from the BT45 front?

Why backwards?

If the BT45 is that good, why not run it in the rear as well (for my bike, they only offer the 150/80-16 vs. the orig 160/80-16)?

Would this be a double undarkside?

The reason for a rear tire on the front is a rear tire has a lot more tread therefore lasts longer. The reason to run it backward is because of the tread pattern, front tires are made to have stopping grip in wet conditions and rear tires are made to have forward traction so if you run it backward on the front it gets the stopping grip in the right direction.
