Another Great AR in October Ride

AspectOne & I had another great ride with Lopeha, Dave0430 & GLester today to view a little of AR in October and break in our "new" GL1500. Route was Maumelle to Pettit Jean Mountain, then on to Mount Nebo. Leaves are just beginning to start their turn, great hairpin curves to enjoy, & a litte twist @ the end for us to make it home.

Got down from Mt. Nebo and the GL1500, "Barney", just died. Jumped it (thanks to our riding crew) & died. Again. Again. Battery not charging. Chris just rode this bike home from NC about 1000 miles and we knew the wiring was a bit hinky due to some outages along the trip, but overall it performed well. Now we're on the hunt for the problem - alternator, wiring, battery, a combo?? Oh well, still a great ride & Man did we save on gas on the way home! Enjoy.

"And a good time was had by all" as they used to report in local papers. The weather could have, and was supposed to be better but the temp never rose above 54 F. and cloudy, it was supposed to be sunny and mid 60s. Going to try again tomorrow with a little different crew, maybe the luck and weather will be better. I only did 290 miles today, that just won't do.
We decided the whole problem is the lack of a gremlin bell on Chris's bike(s).
I think Gene took care of that on his way home.

And I have figured out all of their problems, they have never had a gremlin bell on any of their bikes. That is just asking for trouble, so I stopped on the way home in Russelville and got them one for each bike. Now, if they can just get one to last long enough to make to my house, we can mount one and they should be good to go. :cheeky1::cheeky1:

YAY!!!! Thanks so much Gene!! We'll just hold good thoughts until they get mounted as Chris refuses not to ride... I bet we mount that sucker on the GL1500 and it fires right up like @ Wally World this afternoon!

I had a semilar problem when I first got my 1500. Check the brushes on the alternator. Mine were stuck. I cleaned out all the dust from the brush holder and they freed right up. Charging like a champ since then. Congrats opn the new ride!

Well, I figured they got infested with them darn Gremlins on their 1100, and the 1500 was fine until they parked it next to the 1100, and some of them infested the 1500. Just like flies, and the only way to take care of the problem is to treat both bikes.:cheeky1:

The bell will fix all that! Might take a ride or two for them to all fall off. I would be careful riding behind them for a while!

I sure hope the Harley guy's don't see those pictures of the GW on a wrecker, especially after explaining to them why GW's are a better machine! :D

Heck, most of them would not be bright enough to figure out what kind of bike it is high up on the back of that truck, and if they are riding, they don't look up for fear that they might run over a part falling off of their friend's bike in front of them. If you ever noticed, most of them have a scowl on their face, and are starring forward and down.:cheeky1::cheeky1:

Disclaimer: My views on Harleys are not intended to disparage the good Harley name, it was done totally in jest, and since I have owned at least 2 Harleys in the past, I feel I can say what I da*n well please about them.:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

I hate it I missed out on the ride. Sounds and looks like y'all had a ball! I was laid up with the crud ALL weekend long and am still fighting it.

Love the bike AspectOne. I have a friend in Vilonia who recently bought an '88...looks almost identidal to yours. He loves his.

Sure hope I can catch up with y'all soon for a ride.
