A somewhat new idea in the US but common in Japan. I would have applied for the job but have difficulty memorizing the line and they won't spring for a teleprompter.

They also have the responsibility of stopping someoneif the alarm goes off when they pass by the sensors as you exit the store. Then they have the added responsibility of trying to make you NOT feel like they are accusing you of shoplifting while they search through all the stuff you just PAID for with their grubby hands and compare it to the receipt you HOPEFULLY remembered to get!

Actually it's not always that bad. It mostly depends on my mood at the time! :jumper:

Little ol Yuma has grown! Wenow boast two "SUPER WALMARTS"with plans for a third one a little way out of town. :shock:

Traffic in the summer is nearly as bad as it was in the winter 10 years ago. I used to have to only worry about 3 stop lights on my way to work. Now there are 14 with the 15th going on line next week! :crying:

My insurance in BC (goverment ICBC ie mandatory ) 3rd party only coverageis $1200 a year I have a 20 year+ clean record and get their 40% discount Go figure

I watch these guys in the states bleat about their $80 to $100 yearly bil. Give your heads a shake guys the grass isn't always greener

Up here they make an art of new and devious ways of taxing the hell out of us(mostly to support Quebec)

Well thanks all of you for your information, insights and humour. I've found a broker in Toronto that specializes in bikes etc and has given me a "reasonable" price(it's amazing what you canconsider reasonable if you don't think about it too much).

Hope to get the wing by the weekend. I'll let you all know how it works out. My wife is really excited

Nice international flavour to this site. I've got family spread around the world.....brother in Irleand, another one in Vancouver area. Talking to you guys is just like talking to them (without the ensuing food fight).

I can go one better. Here in Utah, in an attempt to combat all the illegals aliens from south of the border driving without insurance, they instituted a "driver privilege" card. Similar to a driver license except you cannot use it as state-issued ID. However, the illegals are not getting them because they have this idea that then everybody would know who they are and where they live and deport them. So they still drive around without insurance and without a driver license and the rest of us taxpayers get to pay for another bit of legislation that resembles peeing your pants in a dark suit. Nice warm feeling but nobody notices.

Just to update anyone who might be watching (anyone?? anyone? Bueller?)

I finally got my Wing home and on the road. She will be known as "Miss Evelyn" in honour of my mother. She passed away late last year but her birthday is Aug 27th, the day I brought the bike home (she would have been 81). A classy lady with a good fight in her, just like the Wing.

There's a good story to go with getting the Wing but it involves some vendor bashing of a local dealer and I don't think this is the proper place for it. Anyone living in and around Ottawa ON Canada may be interested. There's always two sides to every story and I can only present my side in as fair a way as possible.

Anyway, she's home, I've had a couple of rides and life is good. My wife and I are looking forward to the long weekend very much.

Hope the run in with the dealership didn't result in fisticuffs:thumpingmad:maybee things will improve for you, especially as you are probably walking round with a big grin on your face, what with the bike now in your ownership!!

Take it steady to begin with and get used to the size and peculiarities.

Respect to you for naming her after mum, a nice tribute and reminder of, what obviously was a woman close to you.

While with a 1200 wing... you definitely have one of the "classiest" bikes of all time... and  I hope you soon will be able to enjoy (like me)  being able to make Ms. Evelyn  dance thru the twisties....... because if you learn to use those upper gear RPM's  (4000 +)  then it can be a real screamer ........                                       .............. don't forget that with  1200 ownership goes a real specific set of problems... the dreaded Fusible link /forums/images/emoticons/sad.gif(just replace it )  the yellow wire three pronged plug  (cut it out and re-solder it/forums/images/emoticons/shock.gif)... the possibility of installing a EC harness... (best $50 I ever spent!!/forums/images/emoticons/confused.gif) ... and the possibility of stator failure./forums/images/emoticons/mad.gif.. (change your oil often, and pray !!)....  but in any case ... I was very glad to see on the news a week ago that Texas is going to start impounding vehicles when the driver has no insurance, it is about time, they usually issue a ticket which is usually never paid and the suckers just keep driving with no insurance or license, being a border state we have a large number of unlicensed and uninsured drivers everyone pays except the ones who should pay.
