Working on my Dad's 1200, gonna install the CB, but are missing the "Antenna Distributor".

What exactly is the purpose? Does it share the antenna with the radio and acts as a splitter?

Thanks,
Robert

Short answer, yes, it splits the antenna lead into separate leads to the radio and cb. It's a must have part unless you run a separate antenna for the cb. Might be cheaper to get another antenna for the cb. Firesticks are the most common sold for bikes.

:waving:The GL1100 and GL1200 systems work much better with the single antenna than the newer Honda sytems with 2 antennas. Below is a link to Sierra Electronics faq page which explains why an antenna with a splitter for CB and AM/FM works better than two separate antennas on a motorcycle.

as a ham opperator the quick answer is that two ant on a wing act as a beam ant and works best to the side away from the non cb ant. one ant works all around the bike.
