Any Hawaiians on here?

The lovely fickle finger of fate has brushed fortuitously across our brows!

Red and I have just found out that due to a family matter, we will have to spend two weeks or so in Hawaii, Maui, during the Thanksgiving Holidays! Oh, drat!

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Three birds with one stone! The family matter; carry through on the fact that I had long promised Red a Hawaiian Vacation; and I want to ride some motorcycle over there! This could turn out nicely! The only other time I've been to the Islands was in 1965 when the damn boat carrying me to Vietnam broke.....

Anybody know how to rent a bike over there? Anybody know where to ride?

(Another fortuitous happening is that I'll keep the ST for this summer at least, we will need to sock away some cash for the Hawaiian thing..... can quit worrying about scoring a good 1800!)

Looks like our kind of place!

We rented from Eagle Rider in Denver a couple summers ago. Prices were ok, considering they were our only option. Selection of bikes was good, and they were well maintained and clean.
I remember a while back someone posting information about a rental place in Hawaii that rented Goldwings. I think that would be great if you could rent an 1800 for a week or so to see how it works for the both of you. I know you would love the feel and sportiness of the 1800, Totally different feel from the 1500.
This is the only one I see for Goldwings.......

A lot more Harley Rental places.....

CJ we went to Maui April 2012 and enjoyed ourselves. As stated lots of Harley rentals on the island. I looked into renting but did not. There are a few nice roads to ride. the road to Hana and up to Haleakala Crater.

Go up to the crater for sunrise ....... stunning.

The road to Hana from Huelo to Hana is a typical coast road with lots of curves and elevation changes with plenty places to stop. A great road for any motorcycle. We did not go completely around and stopped at Hana. I understand the road from Hana to Kaupo is broken asphalt and gravel but is passable.

Cousin Jack, I feel your pain. Babycakes and I had to spend four weeks in that hell hole May 2012 for our 40th anniversary. Just suck it up and try to act like a man.

I did not find a place to rent a Goldwing. Every island has a Harley rental, and the though they are a little pricey, they are not outrageous.

You can go all the way around Maui, but there are some "exciting" less than perfect roads on the extreme north side. No worries, you can make it. Hawaii is the most pleasant place I have ever been. The weather is beautiful, even when it's raining. Things grow wild on the side of the road that we can't cultivate here. The people are friendly. And you can get a Spam/Biscuit at McDonalds. It just don't get any better than that!

Get off the beaten tourist track and explore the neighborhoods and eat at the small operations. The sunsets are more beautiful than the sunrises, and vice versa. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

I know there is a m/c rental place in Lahaina but I didn't see Goldwings there. What the heck, ride a Sportster for the hell of it.
