Is anyone else here a Racer? I mean anything too...Motorcycle, Car, Boat, Airplane, Lawnmower, Bar-Stool...

I'm a new guy here and would like to see other's racing toys. I tried searching for other racers, but didn't come up on anything. I know there must be some other racers here besides myself, and would like to see what ya do! So post up a pic if you can and tell us why you do it! :cooler:

Below is my KTM 525 SuperMoto Racebike. Supermoto racing consists of a track that is 70% asphalt roadracing course, and a30% motocross dirt section. You transition between the two...come off the asphalt onto the dirt section then back onto the asphalt. It's an absolute Hoot and keeps me young and good-lookin'. :p

Well the bike looks good anyway right:)

:cheeky1:Very true Jason. I freely admit the bike is better than I am.

As far as an 'in-use' picture, below is at a track that uses paved jumps instead of a dirt section.

And people...I'm no spring chicken at 47 years old. But as Dodge says "Grab life by the horns!"

Or in my case, it's a set of Renthal fat-bars. :action:

Don't have any pics, but I used to run Hare Scramble series in the Vintage class. Bultaco 370 Pursang and made a quite respecitable showing at the last 10 I ran 3 - 2nd place and 6 - 3rd place finishes. Now the Pursang is setting in my building waiting for this winter to get pulled apart and rebuilt.

Been there done that , All I got left is the worn out body . :cheeky1: I had a great time as teen racing . I did flat track , MX , hare scramble , road race . Did it all on my SL350 . Had a blast . I wouldn't do any different if I had a second chance .

That is a nice looking bike .

I use to run a class c sports race car in the SCCA in the early eighties.

plainmech...you forget all about those pains when you're on the bike. When the race is over they all come back. :?

Rob..you need to dig up a pic of the Bultaco. The Pursang is classic stuff! The kids, when they hear you talk about Bultaco, Penton, etc. all they say is they've heard of them. Like Elvis.

Mike..at 47 I'm usually the oldest guy out there. But I do pretty good. It's always fun to surprise the guys out there half my age. The young-uns all have a pin-it-to-win-it approach and are easy to set-up for a pass. I'd rather race against the young guys.Old racers are devious.

wingman, that's why I race motorcycles. Cars cost too much. :smiler:

Thanks all for the welcome!

Super Moto looks like a lot of fun. I've been wanting to get a dual sport type bike (KLR or Vstrom) or something of that nature. Right now this is my sport bike. 2007 Honda 919. I haven't raced it yet but am wanting to do a track days with it sometime.

I have done some land speed racing in the past, and hope to go again next year. I hold the XO/PP record in the ECTA at Maxon

What was that on Jimmy? I know there are a bunch of classes...

Jeff the 919 is a cool bike. I've had sportbikes in the past, and some pretty serious ones, butif I were to get anotherI'd prefer a bike like yours, FZ1, Bandit, etc. They just make a lot more sense and still pack a punch. And the Cops don't eyeball you so hard either. I thourougly encourage a track day. The private ones hosted by a specific group are the best, versus the public ones by trackday providers (that's all they do). Those seem to attract all the squids and their R bikes.

Somewhere on this forum is a post about a winger who built his bike and took it to the track for race day... he posted links to some video too

I raced motorcycles for 18 years, short track, road race, TT scrambles, motocross, drag and land speed at the Salt. I still have a AMA LSR of 94.24 mphon a100cc Kawa set in 1971.

If that's what floats your boat that's fine, but old bones mend slowly.

Getting busted up is always something you have in the back of your mind Frank. I've had 10 crashes in the last 2 years. Mostly lowsides, and you get the usual bumps, bruises, sore muscles. Worst one though was fracturing both my wrists after I hit a fallen rider. I didn't give it much thought at the time, but a week later and they still hurt like heck so I had 'em checked out. Took a good 6 months before they started to feel normal again.

You guys with knobbies should come see me MLK weekend at the Broxton Bridge Enduro, Erhardt SC...I'll be working, but you'll get a ride you wont forget!

Hare and Hounds, Scrambles, and Baja.

No more racing now....the arthritis is too bad. Last race for me was the '07 500 and 1K.

My dual sport (CRF450X) and race bike in a little town near Tecate MX:

I'm a big fan of supermoto but I think I'm too old to actually race anymore! :?

I used to road race and drag race bikes and cars.

Now I only race in the ocean.
