a dual intensity led board for 1100 front signals? Should not be too hard, and the parts look economical. Jay

I bought a set of 5x2 ? oval LED park/turn units for truck /trailer use . I cut the lens off to get at the board . I cut a slot in the lamp housing ( i was working on a Vetter) to slide the board into . Another project never finished :(. But that was the angle I was attacking from . sorry no pics .I used board on aother project .

I have used this method of cutting the circuit boards out to install front and rear LEDs on my 70 Monte Carlo and my sons 86 GMC .

I have plenty of unfinished projects myself:cool:. I have been looking around 100 leds 4.50, someresistors 1.00 some scrap lexan and we might be in business. I found a neat calculator to find out the resistor value for a circuit. wire in a larger resistor to make it dual intensity. Maybe this winter, any body got a raggedy turn signal housing to pratice on? Jay

i bought a cheapie trunk for my 84 shadow that had a 'reflector' on the back. http://www.jcwhitney.com/glossy-motorcycle-trunks/p2010970.jcwx is the link to the new version of this without the nice reflector assembly i modified. when i pulled the reflector there was provision for a light. well! i had some ultra bright 10mm jumbo red leds laying around that were perfect for the job. i put 20 of them in 3 rows, 6,7,6 across and wired them for 6 lit for running, 14 lit for stop. i gave them all about 30 or 40 milliamps of current with the series resistors, and it works pretty well. as soon as i figure out how to post pics, i'll put some up. they will do a whole lot better explaining the mechanics of the install than i can describe.

there were bosses on the red lense the board is screwed to btw. the reflector assy was actually made to have a light but apparently the mfgr never pursued it. i'm assuming the lawyers steered them away from it. compared to oem spec brake light, the trunk light is a bit brighter in stop, and about the same bright in run. since the bracket i fashioned to hold the trunk blocks the side view of my brake light, it seemed like the way to go. no complaints yet after two years of use.

in case any of you have seen it on a board, someone posted the 'book' numbers for signal light intensity. i believe it was 65,000mcd for run/turn and 90,000mcd for brake. if any of you recall that post, please point me that way. i'm fixing to do something to the 82 aspy and i'd like to have a good idea where to start. i'll post here for all to benefit.
