Picked these up today along with a Vetter fairing. Just wondering if anyone knew of them.

Look like older Bates or Califia (sp) style. I bought a trunk very similar to that one in 1981 for a CB-900 Custom from JC Whitney. Does that one hinge on the side or the rear ? A lot of the earlyBates hinged on the side... :gunhead:

The trunk does hinge from the side but nothing on them indicates Bates.

They were made and marketed by Carl Howe from Waterloo, Iowa. My dad and I use to make some of the brackets for him back in the ealy 80's. Unfortuneatly Carl is no longer with us, as I recall he passed away some 20 years ago.

Thanks, there is a tag still readable on 1 of the bags that says Howe engineered then something unreadable and marketing. The guy I got them from said they came off a GL1000.

These were used on the Kawasaki police bikes in the 80's had a set once.
