i sat on one friday, wanted one since i first found out about them a year or so ago, but where not announced for US sales at the time. i love the retro style.
I have been following that one every since it was announced over on advrider. It is a beautiful bike, but not retro enough for me. Now if they had made an almost exact replica of the original CB750 with just enough changes to meet current EPA and DOT standards, I would be standing in line with money in hand. If I were going to buy a new standard bike in that price range, it would have to be the Triumph Bonneville T-100.
My brother & I rode over and had a look at one today. I don't think I could deal with a chain after all these years without. And I don't really care for the 4 into 1 exhaust, but...
...with a few tweaks and a paint job, I could see one in my garage.
Chains are much better than they were years ago. I adjusted the chain at about 400 miles on the FireBlade, and now at 3000 miles, it is still set, just as the mechanic at the dealership that did the precheck said it would be when I bought it; and that thing is putting down some serious power.
I drove an XL 250 Honda back in 1973, one thousand miles in 2 days, and must have adjusted the chain at least 7 times. I did not know they could stretch that far. lol
My first motorcycle was a CB750. It was painful to ride for more than an hour. If I hadn't hear about the "couch on wheels," I would have given up on riding.
One good thing about the CB is very easy to detect a cylinder that isn't firing.
