Probably does need a synch, yes. It also involves setting the pilot jets at the correct turns, and the idle screw adjustment.

If you indeed passed through all the jet orifice, then more than likely it is the carb sync and yes the pilots will more than likely need adjustments. None settling rpm at idle is often caused by the sync, vacuum leaks, or by throttle cables that are to tight.

I think I found part of my problem, the new points are not fireing steady at low rpm,so I pulled them back out and put the old ones back in,it seems to do better.so I order new ones agan,I dont know what is wrong but I cant seem to get this new ones to work. I hope when I get these new ones it will fix it.Ps I think they sent me the wrong ones the last time, they are made a litle diferent then the ones that were in it.

Can you still get points from Honda? Back in the days when Honda cars had points I could tell by listening to one if it had aftermarket points in it.

BigWingD: Sounds like you need to sync the carbs also. You can't rebuild the carbs without syncing. Go here for all the info you need on 1000 carbs and points. I think the accepted points replacement is from a Honda 450 (Black Bomber). ??? Points adjustment is very critical on the 1000 also, has to be right on or you will get hesitation and or missing. I chased what I thoughtwere carb problems for months until I got rid of the points and went with a Dynaelectronic ignition.

Also if you didn't "clean"..polish the slides in the carb caps they may be hanging up..see Randall's site for info on how to clean them up too..

Ye I done all the carb work by Randall,s site because I have onley done auto carbs befor and belive me I have done a ton of them.Butt the new points I got from the Honda shop here just are not right.Butt I have ordered the point asse. kit and new intake o-rings from Honda direct online,It says it will take 6 to 10 days to get them,so as soon as I get them I will know more about what is going on with the bike. PS the Honda shop wont make up the points I got from them, they say anything elctrickly ,once you buy it its yours.I guess they call that treating people right. One thing for sure I will never buy any thing from them agan.

That is the case anywhere. You buy an electrical part and take it out of the package there is no return. Before businesses started this policy people would buy a part to test with then return it if it didn't fix the problem, sometimes damaging the part because of a short or something elsewhere on the vehicle. I can't blame them unless it was the wrong part and you didn't install it.

What I wanted them to do was replace them they were bad and I have deeled with them for over 25 years. They are the ones who done all the work on my GoldWing befor when I owned it and I have bought all my parts for my other bikes of them for over 25 years now. They all know me by name. The contack on the points were cut at an angle and wound not meet at a flat angle and you could see it, just by looking at them, they were bad and they new it. and for 56 dollers they should have replaced them.
