I've heard about this. Sweden is a crazy country, in that they try to ban anything that might save them haveing to patch up people in hospital.

Can't believe everything you hear... It's just a rumor.

They will have to take my bike from my cold, dead fingers.

This bike protected by S&W.

I can see all the bumper stickers already!

Maybe if we talked "Volvo" into making bikes things would change real fast ?!:baffled:

With the price of fuel in Europe, I can't see a ban on mototcycles.

I was in Germany in 2003, it was common for motorist to shut off the engine at red lights. I think I was cussed out in German by an old woman in the car next to me for letting my enging run while waiting on a draw bridge! (I was driving an Audi diesel that got 55 mpg!)

One other thing I noticed, when at a red light, bikes can go to the front of the line. Try pulling in front of a truck of ******** in the US!

Oddly though, you can't turn right on a red light!

Same here, you can go to the front of the queue, but don't try the turn right thing, you will be "flat packed" before you know it,:goofygrin:and don't try turning left at a red, 'cause the police would take a very dim view. That would constitute "driving without due care and attention" which will get you some nice expensive points on your licence. If the police don't get you, the chances are the cameras will!!!

yeah... but can you imagine how ugly a volvo motorcycle would be... and then they would try to load it up with "safety" gear

Volvo's experimental bikes in the 80s were discontinued because they couldn't figure out how to keep the airbags from blowing the riders off the bike.

Doesn't every vehicle made in Sweden need to protect its occupant from a direct collision with a Moose...

Or is that just another urban legend ???

I really liked the looks of their early imports into the US, the models that looked like 1947 Fords. But since then they just say yuppie-mobiles to me. Their tractors are good looking.

Are you talking about the Volvo P1800S?A sleek looking 2 door coupe with very slight tail fins. That's also the same car used on the old TV show called The Saint. Nice looking car even by today's standards and especially for Volvo's standards.

I think that's it, it had fins on a 45 degree angle, very sleek roof and hood! Pretty cool car especially way back then, when gas was 25 cents a gallon !:baffled:
